Four Hands Supper Club with Cliveden at Thames Lido

11th September – SOLD OUT

Thames Lido is thrilled to announce a very special event on September 11th: A Four Hands Supper Club with Cliveden House. This unique evening will see our Head Chef Iain Ganson join forces with Cliveden’s Head Chef Christopher Hannon to cook dishes that celebrate local and seasonal ingredients, with Cliveden’s unique signature woven throughout the menu.

Nestled in the heart of the Berkshire countryside, Cliveden House is a magnificent Grade I listed estate steeped in history and grandeur. Known for its luxurious accommodations and award-winning dining, Cliveden offers a glimpse into the elegance of a bygone era while providing contemporary comforts and impeccable service.

Guests will start their evening with a welcome glass Hundred Hills Signature Rosé on arrival, supplied by their head sommelier Rupert Crick. This is to be enjoyed with an enticing selection of snacks, including a delicate trout tart with cured trout, yuzu, and ginger, followed by duck rillettes paired with cherry jelly and chervil, and the playful ‘salt & vinegar’ puff potato served with sour cream and chive. These appetisers set the stage for a meal that honours both tradition and innovation.

In true Lido style we will be celebrating the seasons by following with a fresh tomato and melon starter served with buffalo mozzarella. This simple yet elegant dish allows the quality of the produce to truly shine on your plate.

The main courses will feature a beautifully grilled plaice, accompanied by ‘Reading’ sauce, cep, and lemon potato followed by slow cooked hogget paired with a smoked aubergine baba ganoush. If you’re unfamiliar with hogget, it’s lamb aged between 1-2 years old, offering a richer flavour and superior texture compared to younger lamb. We believe you’ll taste the difference. Our hogget is sourced from ‘Chiltern Lamb’, who raise grass fed, British native and rare breed sheep at Kingsbarn Farm, Medmenham, Oxfordshire.

To conclude the evening on a sweet note, you will indulge in the Lido’s signature dark chocolate mousse, elegantly paired with confit blackberry and praline.

Our motto for the evening, “respecting the past, perfecting the future,” reflects our shared dedication to preserving the rich history of our listed buildings while embracing a contemporary approach to food. Join us on September 11th for an evening of exceptional dishes. Reserve your spot now for a night that promises to be both delicious and inspiring.
